Places to visit


Hartham Park is situated between the pretty village of Biddestone and the small town of Corsham.
It was once a magnificent private estate and still boasts a lovely Bath stone Manor House and glorious park land.
Hartham is surrounded by a wealth of Wiltshire Country side, and is an ideal area for walkers and nature lovers.
Church Farm over looks an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in a delightful rural setting and also handy
for visiting places of interest in the West Country.


The historic city of Bath lies just 8 miles away offering many architectural and historical gems, e.g. Roman Baths,
Bath Abbey etc as well as a lovely shopping area.


There are many historic market towns within a few miles e.g. Bradford-on-Avon (Famous for its wool trade),
Trowbridge (County Town) and Chippenham.


The National trust Village of Lacock is just 3 miles away, famous for it's 9th century Abbey and "Harry Potter".
Castle Combe is very close and is renowned for "being the prettiest village in England" and also has
a motor racing circuit where you can book the skid pan and attend race meetings and frequent
Craft Fairs. Many films and TV programmes have been made within these Cotswold villages e.g.
Pride and Prejudice and Dr Dolittle.


There are plenty of lovely Stately homes in the area, i.e. Bowood, Corsham Court, Badminton, Dyrham Park and Stourhead.
Within an hour are the archaeological sites of Stonehenge, Avebury, West Kennet Long Borrow, Silbury Hill and
the famous Wiltshire White Horses - Don't forget Wiltshire is also the centre of the "crop circle phenomenen".



Longleat and Centre Parcs are 45 minutes, very popular with families.


Wells Cathedral, Salisbury and Glastonbury are within 1 hour


Many beautiful gardens are open locally, including Iford, Great Chalfield, The Courts, Westonbirt Arboretum
and Malmesbury Abbey Gardens.




Things to do




There are many cycle ways, bridle ways, byeways and Way-marked Walks near here. Riding stables can be found in Biddestone, Lacock, Hampsley Hollow and Bradford upon Avon. Fishing is available in a Coarse Lake at Lacock and there is also a trout lake attached to Hartham Park. The local Leisure centres at Corsham & Chippenham provide good swimming facilities, Squash and Tennis Courts.


If golf is your game you can choose from some very fine courses within a 10 mile radius e.g. Bowood, Castle Combe, Cumberwell, Kingsdown, Whitley, Chippenham and North Wilts (Calstone).


The Kennet and Avon canal runs from Bath past Marlborough, cutting through some delightful country side. The tow-path can be walked or cycled, offering easy access to many picturesque places and many quaint pubs.
